UniCredit Bank has been present in Serbia since 2001. The bank started its operations under the name Bank Austria Creditanstalt. After the merger of Bank Austria Creditanstalt and HVB Group on a European level, the bank changed its name to HVB Bank Yugoslavia and HVB Bank Serbia and Montenegro respectively.

In October 2004, HVB Group successfully acquired Eksimbanka. HVB Bank Serbia and Montenegro and Eksimbanka merged and continued to operate as one legal entity under the name of HVB Bank Serbia and Montenegro. By combining their businesses in June 2005, UniCredit and HVB Group (including Bank Austria Creditanstalt) created the first truly European banking group, with UniCredit Bank Serbia as a part.

The main objective of UniCredit Bank Serbia is to combine local differences and know-how with a supraregional approach aimed at serving the best its clients.
